With reference to news reports about the development of a new free zone in Msheireb Downtown Doha, Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA) wishes to clarify that Qatar Free Zones (QFZ) currently consists of Ras Bufontas Free Zone and Umm Alhoul Free Zone. The Council of Ministers has agreed in principle to the establishment of another Free Zone in Msheireb Downtown Doha. Recent media reports indicated that Msheireb Downtown Doha is the planned headquarters of the new Media City, but the decision on where to base the new Media City has not been issued yet.
Qatar Free Zones and Media City are separate entities established by different laws. Media City was established by Law No. 13 of 2019. Qatar Free Zones were established by Law No. 34 of 2005, as amended by Legislative Decree No. 21 of 2017.
